How Pulo Coffee Served the Stanley x Kacey Musgraves Collection Launch at Penske Media Corporation in Los Angeles
There was a cowboy on a horse outside. Inside, editors from Rolling Stone, Billboard, and WWD were lining up for a miso brown sugar latte on a rooftop in Los Angeles. That was the morning Pulo Coffee served the Stanley x Kacey Musgraves collection launch at Penske Media Corporation, and it was one of those events that reminded us exactly why we do this.
PMC was one of my accounts when I was at Salesforce. I used to support their success with software. Now I support their success with coffee on their rooftop at a Kacey Musgraves launch. What a beautiful full circle moment.
What Was the Stanley x Kacey Musgraves Collection Launch at PMC
Stanley 1913 partnered with eight-time Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter Kacey Musgraves on a limited-edition four-piece capsule collection inspired by her Texas roots and her latest album, Middle of Nowhere. The collection, rendered in cowhide print with rodeo-inspired charm details, dropped July 14 and sold out fast.
The launch event was a special pop-up at Penske Media Corporation in Los Angeles, home to Rolling Stone, Billboard, WWD, and other major media properties. About 100+ PMC employees gathered on the rooftop to celebrate the collection ahead of its public release. Stanley brought in a cowboy on a horse for the occasion. We brought the coffee.
What Pulo Coffee Set Up for a Celebrity Collection Launch in Los Angeles
The setup was clean and intentional. An outdoor rooftop espresso bar with a full drink menu and homemade syrups. Alongside the coffee cart, we set up a pastry table with risers featuring an assortment of fresh pastries, croissants, and baked goods. Everything was styled to fit the moment without competing with it.
The star of the morning was our seasonal miso brown sugar latte, available through September. It's the kind of drink that sounds unexpected until you try it, and then you immediately want another one. The line ran the entire event. Guests kept coming back.
Why the Miso Brown Sugar Latte Was the Right Drink for a Media Brand Event
Rolling Stone and Billboard editors don't need just a vanilla latte. They need something worth talking about. The miso brown sugar gave them exactly that.
It's balanced with a depth that comes from the miso, not the kind of flavor you find at a standard catered coffee setup. For a room full of Rolling Stone and Billboard editors who showed up for a Western-inspired, Grammy-winning artist's collection launch, it was exactly the right drink for the moment.
If you want to understand how we develop our seasonal drinks and where the inspiration comes from, the story starts in a coffee shop in Athens and a Filipino dessert we grew up eating. Read the full story here.
The June Bug
Somewhere between the second and third round of lattes, a june bug showed up and flew directly into a guest's hair. The kind of moment that stops everyone for a second, turns into a group laugh, and then becomes the thing people are still talking about on the way out. That's what a rooftop event in LA in July will give you.
We joked about it for the rest of the morning. It fit the energy of the day perfectly.
What a Media Company Brand Pop-Up Needs From a Coffee Cart Partner in Los Angeles
A collection launch for editorial and media employees is a different assignment than a standard corporate breakfast. The audience is creative, culturally tuned in, and there to celebrate something with real cultural weight behind it.
The coffee experience has to match that intentionality. A seasonal craft drink, a styled pastry spread, a setup that fits the aesthetic of the moment. Not a generic catering order dropped off at a folding table.
That's the difference between a brand activation coffee experience that people remember and one they walk past.
